Now, the Preston North End will be looking to snap out of a recent poor run of form as they welcome Southampton to Deepdale for a midweek Championship fixture. The Saints have impressed in recent weeks and are expected to compound Preston’s problems on Wednesday.
Preston North End head into Tuesday’s clash off the back of a 1-1 draw with Millwall in their previous Championship fixture. They took an early lead through Mads Frokjaer-Jenson but were quickly pegged back by the visitors.
That result extends Preston North End’s poor run of form as they are now winless in their last five matches.
Also Ryan Lowe’s men suffered three defeats in that run and while they remain fourth on the table the likes of Southampton, Sunderland and Birmingham are breathing down their neck.
Things are just as rough for Preston North End at Deepdale as they are winless in their last two home matches. They were beaten 4-0 by West Bromwich Albion before last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Millwall.
So then in contrast to Preston North End’s struggles, Southampton appear to be finding their feet in recent times.
Additionally, they are unbeaten in their last four matches and can jump to third on the Championship standings if results go their way in midweek.
